چکیده
The present work is based on the principle of biomass waste valorization. Brewer’s spent grains (BSG) come from breweries as by-products. Their huge amount production an industrial scale should focus our attention their valorization, which creates challenges well opportunities. One way to valorize BSG by-products convert them into biochar, a functional material with multiple potential applications. With emphasis sustainable development and circular economy, in this work, we focused comparative study different mechanical processes grinding effect resulting biochar formed after pyrolysis. Home appliances such blenders, coffee mills, mortar pestles were used for purpose. FESEM images confirmed successful creation five morphologies same under pyrolysis conditions. Interestingly, novel Chinese tea leaf egg-like was also formed. It found that series physical pretreatments resulted reduced roughness surface, i.e., they became smoother, thus negatively affecting quality biochar. XRD revealed treatments reflected crystallinity some Via Raman study, witnessed pressure features through pressure-induced modifications biomass’s internal structure. This induced enhanced graphitization. good example role mechanochemistry. DSC thermochemical transformation samples be exothermic reactions. opens up interesting possibility synthesis controlled morphology, crystallinity, degree graphitization, heat capacity.

Second Generation Ethanol Production from Brewers’ Spent Grain
Ethanol production from lignocellulosic biomasses raises a global interest because it represents a good alternative to petroleum-derived energies and reduces the food versus fuel conflict generated by first generation ethanol. In this study, alkaline-acid pretreated brewers’ spent grain (BSG) was evaluated for ethanol production after enzymatic hydrolysis with commercial enzymes. The obtained h...
متن کاملPreparation and Application of Biochar from Brewery`s Spent Grain and Sewage Sludge
Brewery`s spent grain (BSG) and sewage sludge (SS) were used as raw material at the temperature from 400°C to 700 °C and limited oxygen (O2<5%) conditions to prepare biochar (BC). One aim is to examine the BC characterization prepared under different temperatures and various proportions of SS. Another aim is to find the optimum preparation conditions of BC for treating wastewater. Results showe...
متن کاملSelection of the Strain Lactobacillus acidophilus ATCC 43121 and Its Application to Brewers' Spent Grain Conversion into Lactic Acid
Six Lactobacillus strains were analyzed to select a bacterium for conversion of brewers' spent grain (BSG) into lactic acid. Among the investigated strains, L. acidophilus ATCC 43121 showed the highest yield of lactic acid production (16.1 g/L after 48 hours) when grown in a synthetic medium. It was then analyzed for its ability to grow on the hydrolysates obtained from BSG after acid-alkaline ...
متن کاملEffect of freeze-thaw cycling on grain size of biochar
Biochar may improve soil hydrology by altering soil porosity, density, hydraulic conductivity, and water-holding capacity. These properties are associated with the grain size distributions of both soil and biochar, and therefore may change as biochar weathers. Here we report how freeze-thaw (F-T) cycling impacts the grain size of pine, mesquite, miscanthus, and sewage waste biochars under two d...
متن کاملConsumer Acceptability of Crackers Produced from Blend of Sprouted Pigeon Pea, Unripe Plantain and Brewers’ Spent Grain and Its Hypoglycemic Effect in Diabetic Rats
Physical, sensory properties and hypoglycemic effect of crackers produced from sprouted pigeon pea, unripe plantain and brewers’ spent grain fed to diabetic rats were investigated. Different composite flours were used to produce crackers. Physical and sensory properties of the crackers, the blood serum of the rats and changes in the rat body weight were measured. Spread ratio and break strength...
